Managing Image DataΒΆ

Users can upload image data to BIMS either through the Field Book App via BrAPI or by direct upload.

  1. Photos of Plots/Samples Taken Using Field Book App

In the Field Book App, users can create traits in a photo format. Multiple photo-format traits can be defined to store specific types of images, such as tree photo, fruit photo, or flower photo. Field Book saves a JPG file named with the plot/sample ID and timestamp in the plot_data folder. Multiple photos per plot/sample can be collected. Photo-format traits can be collected and transferred to BIMS in the same way as other trait types. For more information, refer to the How to use BIMS with the Field Book App section.

  1. Historical Image Data

Images collected without the Field Book App can also be uploaded to BIMS. In addition to plot of sample images, users can load images associated with specific accessions, trait descriptors, or DNA markers along with metadata. For detailed instructions, refer to the Importing Image Data section.
